    The Benue State Government has announced plans to carry out a census of livestock and their owners to address farmers/herders clashes and criminal activities. Dr. Aondoakaa Asambe, Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Livestock Development, revealed this during an assessment tour in Makurdi.

    Governor Hyacinth Alia disclosed that Benue State spent N4.53 billion servicing external loans between 2023 and June 2024. The governor clarified that no additional debt has been incurred since his tenure began.

    Fulani herdsmen reportedly killed 48 Christians in Benue State between November 24 and December 1, including an attack in Azege village, Logo County, where 18 individuals were slain.

    Reports have surfaced of police complicity in the release of a robbery suspect linked to attacks on travelers on the Lafia-Makurdi highway. Assailants in military camouflage allegedly set up illegal checkpoints in Guma Local Government Area, targeting victims.
