1. Benue state traditional rulers have urged Governor Samuel Ortom to prevail on his Nasarawa state counterpart to check the persistent incursion of armed herdsmen into Benue communities from the neighbouring state.
The royal fathers lamented that the unending attacks and killings in Benue state by armed herdsmen who storm communities in the state from neighbouring Nasarawa state is taking its toll on the economy of the state and negatively impacting food security in the state and the country in general.
2. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has declared his support for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Governor Ortom described Obi as the best person who can solve Nigeria’s socioeconomic problems.
3. Peter Obi, presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), on Sunday celebrated Christmas at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Abagana, Makurdi.
Speaking with the IDPs, Obi said that their plight would not continue, adding that they should have hope that they would soon go back to their ancestral homes.
4. The Catholic Priest and Chaplain of St. Mary’s Hospital, Okpoga in Okpokwu Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue state, Rev. Fr. Mark Ojotu, who was recently abducted, has been released.
It will be recalled that the cleric was waylaid and whisked away by the unknown armed men along Okpoga – Ojapo road on Okpoga – Utonkon road.
5. Abba Moro, the senator representing Benue South Senatorial District in the Senate, has lamented about the poor state of the eight-kilometre stretch of the Otukpo township road.
Moro also expressed concern over the growing insecurity in his senatorial zone, saying it is hindering development in the area.
