1. Benue State Socio-Cultural Organisations have raised the alarm over the converging of suspected terrorists at the borders between Benue and Nasarawa states preparatory to launch further attacks on unsuspecting communities in the state.
This is even as the president generals of the three main socio-cultural organisations including Mdzough U Tiv, Chief Iorbee Ihagh (rtd); Ochetoha K’Idoma, AVM Tony Adokwu (rtd); and Omi Ny’Igede, Dr Ben Okpa, in a statement attributed the planned attack to the video outburst and a document signed by the deposed Emir of Kano and former CBN Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and 51 others and presented to President Muhammadu Buhari.
2. The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has promised to restore peace to Benue State if elected the president in this month’s election.
Atiku also promised to promote agriculture for the development of the state and the country.
He was speaking Monday in Makurdi during the presidential campaign in Benue State.
3. Suspected armed herders at the weekend launched another attack on some communities in Benue State killing six people and wounding three soldiers.
The incident, according to locals occurred at a border between Tse-Abwa Mbapa council ward in Gwer West and Ikobi in Apa local government areas of the state.
4. Operatives of the Benue State Command of the Nigeria Police Force yesterday, arrested five suspects for armed robbery.
The Command’s spokesperson, Catherine Anene, stated this in a statement to newsmen. Anene said that the suspects who always camouflage as military personnel were reportedly nabbed along Makurdi/Laafia road.
5. The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, Sunday said he is well-prepared and ready to provide good governance to the people of the state if elected on March 11.
Alia made the remark while thanking the leadership of his party and all major stakeholders in the “Alialisation Project”, as well as the rural populace, for their solidarity and sacrifices in the just concluded APC rerun which again led to his emergence as the flagbearer.
