1. A group under the aegis of Northern Christian Women Coalition has hailed Governor Samuel Ortom on the establishment of Benue State Community Volunteer Guards (BSCVG) to combat insecurity in the state.

The group’s national president, Princess Leah Solomon Olusiyi, who stated this yesterday when she led a delegation of the group to pay a courtesy call on Governor Ortom acknowledged the governor’s proactiveness in initiating solutions to security problems bedeviling Benue and the country.

2. Two months after the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) sealed the Dangote Cement plant in Gboko, none of the parties has agreed to shift ground on the issue of remittances.

BIRS had, on June 8, 2022, in an operation led by its chairperson, Mrs. Mimi Orubibi, acting on a court injunction, sealed the plant for defaulting in tax remittance.

 

3. The Benue Youth Forum, BYF, has berated the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state for castigating the Benue state government for recently establishing the Benue State Community Volunteer Guards, BSCVG, to complement efforts of the conventional security agencies to stem insecurity in the state.

Outraged by the position of the APC, the BYF in a statement in Makurdi by its National President, Terrence Kuanum said it noted with utter dismay and surprise the attempt by the APC to deride the genuine effort of Benue people and the state government to complement the efforts of the conventional security agencies to protection lives and properties in state.

4. Singer 2Face Idibia took to Instagram on Monday, August 8, to pen down a public apology to his wife, kids, mum and management for being an embarrassment to them.

In the lengthy post, the “African Queen” singer noted that he wasn’t writing to garner sympathy but rather to set the record straight.

5. The people of Orokam community in Benue State have called for thorough investigation into the death of their son, Sunday Obute.

Obute, a serving policeman attached to Jikwoyi Division was gunned down by suspected robbers on Monday and his kinsmen are calling on the federal government to investigate and possibly bring his killers to book.
