1. Governor Samuel Ortom has called on the Federal Government to include the Benue State Government on the list of states to benefit from the 13% derivation revenue funds as a solid mineral-producing state.
The Governor made the call Tuesday, August 16th, 2022 in his opening remarks before the commencement of the State Executive Council meeting at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.
2. A socio-cultural group, the Tiv Youth Organization, TYO has berated the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Usman Baba over what the group described as “distasteful, ethnic profiling” of the Tiv people.
The TYO has also given the Police chief seven days to retract the hateful statement profiling the Tiv and tender an apology, saying failure to do so, the group would seek legal redress.

4. Pan Idoma National Congress (PIC), a socio-cultural organization, has endorsed Dr. Mathias Oyigeya as the Governorship Candidate for the 2023 General elections in Benue State.
The group in a statement jointly signed by Comrade Innocent Adulugba, Interim National Publicity Secretary and Hon. Daniel Olotu, Secretary, Media and Publicity Subcommittee, said the Idoma nation MUST not continue to ‘subscribe’ to playing the second fiddle in Benue State.
5. The paramount ruler of Idoma nation, HRM Elaigwu Odogbo Obbagaji (Och’Idoma V), has reacted to the controversy trailing his purported move to change the cultural identity of the Idoma people.
The Och’Idoma, while receiving in audience a section of Idoma Youths In His Temporary Palace In Otukpo on Tuesday, said, they were only merging the two cultural identities and he’s in no way planning to alter them.
6. Tuesday’s meeting between the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government has again ended without an agreement.
This means the six-month old strike by public university lecturers is set to continue.
