1. Three suspected armed robbers have been apprehended in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
The suspects who were said to have been terrorising some parts of Makurdi in recent times were rounded up at Logo 1, Wurukum, Makurdi.
2. The Benue state government has raised the alarm that Makurdi, the state capital, is under flood threat except something is urgently done to address the situation.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Dr. Godwin Oyiwona who raised the alarm after an inspection of flooded areas within the state capital expressed displeasure that some residents are in the habit of dumping refuse in water channels saying in addition to global climate change, they were also contributing largely to the flood situation in the state.
3. The Benue State Emergency Management Agency has said that no fewer than 100 households were affected by flood in Makurdi, the state capital, following recent rainfalls.
Dr. Emmanuel Shior, SEMA Executive Secretary, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
4. Victim Support Fund (VSF) on Tuesday donated a wheelchair, stretcher and sundry medical consumables to a Primary Health Care facility in Jato Aka, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue.
The Chairperson, Emergency Support Programme of VSF, Mrs Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, handed over the items to the facility on behalf of the Chairman of the fund, retired Gen. Theophilus Danjuma.
5. Governor of Benue state Samuel Ortom has inaugurated twenty eight (28) Sports Associations.
The Commissioner for Sports and Youths Development Teryima Nguher Monday inaugurated the association on behalf of the governor.
6. Aman, Sunday Ayosugh, has asked Makurdi Upper Area Court in Benue to dissolve his 17-year-old marriage to Linda Ayosugh for continuously closing late from work.
Mr Ayosugh also told the court that “their marriage had broken down irretrievably, and he could no longer tolerate the marriage”.
7. An aspirant who contested on the platform of Labour Party (LP) for a seat in the Benue State House of Assembly, Sesugh Solomon Semaka, has asked a Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi, the state capital, to declare him the authentic candidate of the party for 2023 elections.
The plaintiff in the suit is asking the court to make an order directing the the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a Certificate of Return to him in the event that the State House of Assembly Elections scheduled for the 2023 General Election in his Constituency on April 11, 2023 holds before the determination of his suit.
