1. Former Governorship aspirant in Benue State under People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. Terver Akase has expressed happiness over the peace and unity in the party in Benue State.
The former Governorship aspirant who made his excitement known today, October 4, 2022 during his visit to the Acting PDP State Chairman, Hon. Isaac Mffo at the party’s secretariat in Makurdi, said he was happy with the unity that exists within the PDP in the state, particularly the synergy and understanding between his principal Governor Samuel Ortom and the State Working Committee of the party.
2. The Emir of Lafia, His Royal Majesty, Justice Sidi Bage Mohammed (rtd) has lauded Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State for his efforts toward ensuring the security of his people.
The traditional ruler, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria gave the commendation on Tuesday, October 4th, 2022 when he received Governor Ortom who paid him a condolence visit in Lafia over the death of his brother, Alhaji Safiyanu Bage.
3. Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has dismissed the embattled House of Representatives Member from Gwer/Gwer West Federal Constituency from the state, Mark Gbillah, as a small fry who has no capacity to threaten the electoral victory of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, or the Governor in the forthcoming elections in the state.
Gbillah had at a press conference in Abuja last week, erroneously accused Governor Ortom of standing in his way ahead of the 2023 elections.
4. The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has described the decision by the Benue State House of Assembly to vote against Local Government Autonomy as insensitive, callous, undemocratic, and wicked.
The publicity secretary of the opposition party in the State, Daniel Ihomun, who disclosed this in a statement, accused the Benue State Government for deducting N49million from local government funds for each unit of the refurblished Hilux vans donated to local government council chairmen recently as well as the deduction of N4m per local government for the domestic security outfit, amounting to N92million per month.
5. Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue on Saturday charged National Assembly members of the state’s extraction to revisit a contract awarded by deceased President Umaru Yar’Adua for the dredging of River Benue but was not executed.
Ortom gave the charge in Makurdi after he inspected areas submerged by flood.
6. Two people were reportedly mobbed to death by irate youths at Mbaaku Mbasombo in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State over the alleged killing of people through witchcraft.
The mobbed victims were Kwaghange Ugbu and Atuur Shaaja. They were reportedly dragged with a rope around the village and subsequently beaten to death.
7. Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Terver Akase has donated his Campaign Secretariat to a popular support group known as United Comrades for Uba/Ngbede 2023 which is working for the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate in the state, Rt. Hon. Titus Uba, ahead of next year’s elections.
Making the presentation today in a brief ceremony at the former Terver Akase Gubernatorial Campaign Secretariat located on number 66, George Akume Way, Makurdi, Mr Akase said his decision to donate the edifice and other campaign structures to the group was borne out of his commitment to the Uba gubernatorial project as the gesture was also his contribution to ensuring resounding victory for the PDP governorship candidate come 2023.
