Nnamdi Kanu ends sit-at-home in Igboland
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has given a directive to Finland-based Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa, to put an end to all sit-at-home protests in the Southeast region.
Kanu also urged Ekpa to refrain from antagonizing governors or politicians from the region. He emphasized that anyone enforcing sit-at-home orders in the southeast is not his disciple and should face legal consequences.
The directive was conveyed to Ekpa through Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, and was made public on Friday during a press briefing in Enugu.
In the message, Kanu stated, “Simon, this is a direct order from me. I hereby instruct you to desist from calling for any sit-at-home henceforth. Equally, refrain from antagonizing governors or persons in political positions because you are not in a position to know what they are doing on my behalf.
“I am ordering you to make a public announcement to the effect that you are in receipt of a direct order from me to cancel any pending sit-at-home in place at the moment.”
Biafra: Simon Ekpa writes EU, US to impose visa ban on Gov Mba
Simon Ekpa, a prominent Biafran agitator, has written to the European Union and the United States of America, raising concerns about alleged human rights abuses committed by Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State.
The agitation comes after three individuals were reportedly killed during protests by traders who took to the streets in reaction to the state government’s decision to seal their shops for not opening on Monday.
In his letter, Ekpa urged the EU and the US to impose a visa ban on Governor Mbah, citing his violation of citizens’ fundamental human rights. He accused the Enugu State government of confiscating and arresting Igbo people without adhering to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We wish to bring to your notice the gross violation and fundamental human rights abuses of the people of Enugu State, in Southeast Nigeria by Peter Mbah, the governor of Enugu State,” Ekpa wrote.
He further expressed concern that Governor Mbah’s actions denied the people of Enugu State their right to personal property and free enterprise, contravening internationally recognized charters, treaties, and conventions.
In addition to seeking the visa ban, Ekpa called on Biafra traders in Enugu to continue their business operations. He requested that they provide details of those injured and killed during the protests for immediate medical intervention.
“We call on Biafra traders in Enugu to make available, send the details of all injured traders and those that lost their lives during the protest; their loved ones and their families should send contact details for immediate intervention by the government of Biafra,” Ekpa announced.
He also appealed to fellow Biafrans to open their shops and businesses and to share any relevant information about those responsible for the violence and the closure of their shops.
Biafra: Simon Ekpa reacts as Nnamdi Kanu ends sit-at-home in southeast
Simon Ekpa, a prominent Biafra agitator and self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government, has urged the Igbo community to disregard recent reports circulating about a purported letter from Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The Finland-based lawyer made this declaration on Friday, clarifying that the letter is a fabrication and not from Nnamdi Kanu.
The reports in question alleged that Nnamdi Kanu had directed Simon Ekpa to cease criticizing the southeast governors. However, Ekpa has categorically stated that the letter is entirely false, dismissing it as the work of mischief-makers who are opposed to the liberation of Biafra.
Emphasizing his unwavering stance on the matter, Simon Ekpa reiterated his call for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, asserting that this is crucial for lasting peace in the southeast region of Nigeria. He firmly denounced the attempts to misrepresent the views and intentions of the IPOB leader, emphasizing that the alleged letter is nothing more than a baseless fabrication.
“Our attention has been drawn to the fake letter from the pit of hell being paraded by Nigerian media claiming that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wrote a letter. It is not only a joke but an insult taken too far that the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra is being misrepresented in this way. As the Prime Minister of Biafra under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, I call on all Biafrans to disregard the fake letter coming from DSS,” Ekpa stated.
