Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has announced an increase in the service charge for this year’s mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Less than a week to the optional examination, the board disclosed that the service charge has been increased by N400.
It stated that while the examination would be conducted freely at its centres, JAMB said candidates willing to take part would have to pay N1,000 to their Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres as a service charge.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Friday said the 2022 mock notification slips were out for printing. The board also added that the mock examinations will be held on April 9, 2022.
The board, in a terse statement by its Head of Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin, advised candidates who registered for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and indicated interest to sit for the optional mock examination to visit its site to print the slip.
“2022 mock exam slip printing is now available. Candidates who had registered for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and indicated interest to sit the optional mock examination are to visit https://www.jamb.gov.ng to print their mock notification slips,” the statement said.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has said that the mock examination slips for its 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) can now be printed out in preparation for the exercise by candidates.
JAMB made this known in a statement on Friday, signed by its spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin.
It said, “The 2022 mock exam slip printing is now available. Candidates who had registered for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and indicated interest to sit the optional mock examination are to visit https://www.jamb.gov.ng to print their mock notification slips.”
2022 UTME/DE deadline: JAMB registers N1.8m candidates
At the close of the registration for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) programme on Saturday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said a total of 1,837,011 candidates were successfully captured in the exercise that took place nationwide between February 19 and March 26.
This is contained in the latest weekly bulletin by JAMB which was released in Sunday night.
With N4,700 registration fee paid by the applicants, JAMB has successfully generated an estimated revenue of a total of N8.6 billion.
Out of the lump sum, a total of 776 computer-based test centres that took part in the exercise will share an estimated amount of N1.3 billion at the rate of N700 per candidate registered by each of the centres.
The sale of the 2022 UTME/DE e-PINs would be closed on Saturday, 26th March 2022 (same day registration will close). This emphasis is essential because of the persistent drop in the number of e-PINs being vended as well as the low turnout of candidates at the various centres across the nation in spite of the capacity of the Board to register more daily.
It would be recalled that the Board had reiterated that it would not extend 2022/23 UTME/DE registration exercise beyond the window allotted by relevant authorities to the Board to conduct the exercise. As disclosed in previous publications, registration dates are not fixed arbitrarily but through a consensus of opinions of the Federal Ministry of Education and examination agencies before the commencement of registration.
The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede has explained that results for the board’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) cannot last beyond one year because it is a ranking and not an achievement test.
He said this in Kano during an interaction with journalists after an assessment tour of the board’s Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre and others within the state as well as the board’s ongoing project.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has registered over 1.5 million candidates for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Board made this known in its Weekly Bulletin of the office of its Registrar on Monday, in Abuja.
JAMB reiterated its stand to close its 2022 registration exercise on Saturday, March 26, as earlier scheduled.
It said that the sale of e-PINs for its UTME and Direct Entry (DE), which commenced on February 19, and to end on Saturday, March 26, would not attract any extension.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has reacted to complaints by CBT centres over the high cost of diesel and energy problems in the country.
JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede said the board was trying to open a discussion with the NNPC and after due consultations, it would do something about it.
“Since we have pegged our charges at N700, they are complaining because they felt that it is practically impossible to run.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, on Monday, once again said it will not extend the March 26, 2022 deadline for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, and Direct Entry, DE, registrations.
JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede said the board will not extend the exercise because it is working on a tight schedule.
According to him, “Today is March 21, 2022; we still have five days to go and you can see how vacant the CBT centres are. So, we are telling you that nobody on the 26th, will have the guts to tell us to extend. Now, we have registered about 1.5 to 1.6 million candidates; so, we are good to go.
Use of English is 60 questions in all. This means JAMB will set 60 English questions for all candidates irrespective of their proposed university courses.
But this doesn’t mean that the total score for the Use of English is 60 marks in all. In fact, it’s 100 marks for this compulsory subject.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mock examination will now hold on April 9, and not April 16 as earlier scheduled.
The board made this known in its Weekly Bulletin of the Office of the Registrar on Monday in Abuja.
