Latest NPower Update for Thursday, August 24, 2023
N-Power has reversed the beneficiary status for participants of NPower Batch C.
As reported by IDOMA VOICE, the management of N-Power, a Federal Government of Nigeria initiative designed to address youth unemployment through a National Social Investment Programme, has taken significant action to correct status changes that impacted certain beneficiaries on its self-service portal. Previously, due to an update on the Nasims portal, the status of specific beneficiaries was changed from “BENEFICIARIES” to “Applicants.”
As of August 18, 2023, the N-Power program has successfully rectified this situation, restoring the rightful “BENEFICIARY” status for Batch C beneficiaries. This news brings relief to individuals whose status was mistakenly altered.
This corrective step provides comfort to the affected beneficiaries, enabling them to access the Nasims portal and verify their updated status. This positive adjustment underscores the program’s dedication to promptly resolving issues and ensuring the accuracy of beneficiaries’ records.
Furthermore, IDOMA VOICE notes that the N-Power program is entering a new phase under the leadership of Dr. Betta Edu, the recently appointed Minister of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. With this fresh perspective and leadership, there is optimism that the program will be reinvigorated to its former effectiveness. This development also raises hopes for addressing the pending 8-month stipends owed to the beneficiaries, ensuring they receive the rightful financial support they deserve.
Promising updates were shared regarding the distribution of essential supplies like rice, grains, and fertilizer to various states during the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on August 17, 2023. The Federal Government’s provision of N5 billion in financial aid, coupled with interventions by institutions like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), garnered commendation for its positive impact on the nation’s welfare.
Recognizing the efforts of state governments in providing assistance to citizens, particularly vulnerable groups, the NEC urged these states to enhance the distribution of palliative measures. This step would significantly contribute to alleviating challenges faced by the most at-risk populations in the country.
