As Robert Lewandowski enters the final year of his contract, the Polish striker has reiterated that leaving Bayern Munich this summer is the “best solution” for himself and the club.
After eight seasons in Bavaria, the 33-year-old has been animated about his desire to depart for a fresh challenge, and has publicly declared that he is open to the prospect of joining Catalonia side, Barcelona.
Lewandowski has also indicated that he “doesn’t want to force” a move away from Bayern, but has hinted that a transfer is the best option for him, even going so far as to declare that his story with Bayern had come to an end.
That notion was reiterated by Lewandowski in a recent interview where the record-setting forward said: “I still have a year left on my contract, that’s why I’ve asked the club for the go-ahead for a transfer. I think that in the current situation it’s the best solution, especially as the club can still receive money from a transfer.
“I don’t want to force anything, it’s not about that. It’s about finding the best solution. We need to cool down, I want to talk calmly and not through the media. I hope the fans will understand me one day.”
