Lekki strippers video: Tekno arrested by Lagos police

It was earlier reported that Nigerian singer, Augustine Kelechi, better known by his stage name, Tekno issued an apology for a viral video of him conveying some exotic dancers while shooting a music video in a transparent truck.

The singer in his apology had said that they had to convey the exotic dancers in the transparent truck because other vehicles were spoilt and they had to change locations for the music video shoot.

In an update, the singer has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for a breach of public decency. It is gathered that he was arrested today and he is undergoing questioning at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba.

Tekno had some time last week conveyed half-naked girls, who were dancing seductively, in a transparent glass box on a truck around the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge. In the truck, the musician was seen spraying the scantily dressed girls with money as they danced.

After some other road users filmed the act and the videos emerged on social media, there was public outcry and calls for the state government to act.

Confirming the arrest, the state Police Spokesman, Bala Elkana, a deputy superintendent of police, said he was invited for questioning. He said:

“The command has arrested Tekno and the two girls for conveying half-naked girls at the Lekki area of Lagos. He is presently undergoing questioning at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti.”

The police said such acts of public indecency is against the criminal code and if after investigation those involved are found guilty, they would be charged to court.

Already, the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency has suspended the advertising firm, Pro-Vision Media Systems Limited.
