Leo Raphael Ozigi: Abducted Niger Catholic Priest finally freed

The Catholic Priest of St Mary’s Catholic Church, Sarkin Pawa, in Niger State, Very Rev Dr Leo Raphael Ozigi has been freed after two weeks in captivity.

The Secretary, Niger State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Raphael Opawoye confirmed his release to our correspondent.

He said the cleric was released on Friday after the ransom was paid but did mention the amount was paid to secure his release.

“He was released yesterday and ransom was paid,” he said.

The priest was abducted on Sunday alongside 44 other villagers on Gwada-Sarkin Pawa road on March 27.
