Emmanuel Onyebuchi and Kalu Nweke found the net for Rangers, to help the Antelopes secure the crucial win.
Meanwhile, at the New Jos Stadium, Akwa United relieved themselves of relegation concerns with a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over Plateau United.
The opener came from the foot of Cameroon defender Gerome Heutchou in the 10th minute for the visiting side.
However, Plateau United’s Sunday Anthony leveled the score from the penalty spot 13 minutes before the final whistle. Sani Suleiman then clinched the victory for Akwa United with another penalty in stoppage time, marking their first away win of the season.
