Club Brugge stunned Atalanta with a dominant first-half display, scoring three goals to secure their place in the Champions League knockout stage with a victory at Gewiss Stadium.

Chemsdine Talbi opened the scoring just two minutes in, netting the club’s fastest goal in the competition by slotting into the bottom corner. He doubled his tally soon after, reacting quickest to a rebound from Christos Tzolis’ shot.

A frantic spell saw Davide Zappacosta and Juan Cuadrado both strike the post before Ferran Jutglà capped off a blistering counter-attack with a composed finish just before halftime.

Atalanta responded immediately after the break, with substitute Ademola Lookman finding the net just 34 seconds into the second half. The hosts had a golden chance to close the gap further when Cuadrado won a penalty, but Simon Mignolet denied Lookman with a crucial save.

Tensions boiled over late in the game as Atalanta captain Rafael Toloi received a straight red card in the 87th minute for shoving Maxim De Cuyper.

Club Brugge, who won the first leg 2-1, secured their first away victory against an Italian club in European competition since 2003. Mignolet delivered a standout performance, making key saves to keep Atalanta at bay.

The Belgian side now awaits Friday’s last-16 draw, where they could face either Aston Villa or Lille next month.
