Maduka Okoye has been removed from Udinese’s registered squad amid allegations of involvement in betting irregularities.
The Nigerian international is under investigation for allegedly betting on receiving a yellow card during a Serie A match between Udinese and Lazio in March.
Okoye was booked for time-wasting in the 64th minute of that game.
Reports indicate that investigators have searched Okoye’s residence following a complaint filed by the betting agency Sisal.
If found guilty, the 25-year-old goalkeeper could face a ban of up to five years.
Currently sidelined with a wrist injury, Okoye has been replaced by Egil Selvik in Udinese’s 25-man squad for the season.
