Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire, has issued a stern ultimatum, suggesting he might depart the Premier League club in January if his playing time remains limited under manager Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag made the decision to replace Maguire as the team’s captain before the commencement of the new season. Despite this change, the England international was given a starting role in the league against Brentford due to several defenders being injured. In that match, Maguire played a pivotal role by setting up Scott McTominay’s winning goal in a 2-1 victory.
However, with the return of key players like Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, Maguire is likely to find himself back on the bench. Expressing his concerns, the 30-year-old stated, “I am not going to sit here all my life and play once a month. If it carries on, I am sure myself and the club will sit down and have a chat about things.”
“It’s not my decision whether I start the next game for United or not. In a couple of weeks, I’ll go back and find out,” Maguire said, ahead of England’s double-header against Australia on Friday and Italy on Tuesday.
