Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli has officially confirmed the signing of Riyad Mahrez from Manchester City in a high-profile transfer deal worth £30 million.
The Algerian football legend, who spent five successful seasons with Manchester City, played a key role in the club’s triumphs, including last season’s impressive Treble.
Reflecting on his time at Manchester City, Mahrez expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play for the club and cherish the countless memories he made during his tenure. He stated, “To play for Manchester City has been an honor and privilege. I came to City to win trophies and enjoy my football. I achieved all that and so much more.”
Mahrez further added, “I’ve made a lifetime of wonderful memories. Manchester City will forever be a huge and happy part of my life.”
Txiki Begiristain, the chief of Manchester City, also praised Mahrez’s contributions to the club’s remarkable success over the years. He emphasized that the talented winger’s skill and technique have left an indelible mark on the world of football.
“There are few wingers that possess his levels of skill and technique in world football, and he will be missed,” said Begiristain. “But everyone will wish him all the best as he begins a new chapter in his career.”
