Last week, some soldiers ran into a Boko Haram ambush in Gudumbali area of Borno State.
A 10-vehicle convoy was said to be on its way to Gudumbali area from Kukawa, still in Borno, when it came under heavy fire from the insurgents.
Many soldiers were killed among whom was Major U I Urang, who hailed from Obolo, a village in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The deceased was said to have celebrated his birthday on March 8, few days before he paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
In a tribute to him, Urang was described as one of Obolo’s finest soldiers.
Urang and his colleagues lost their lives while trying to keep the nation safe.
