Lukman Alao, a 31-year-old man, made an appearance before a Magistrates’ court in Ibeju-lekki, Lagos State, facing charges of being part of a conspiracy to steal property valued at N1,118,542.
The police presented two charges against Alao, which revolved around allegations of conspiracy to commit a felony and theft.
Alao, however, pleaded not guilty to these charges.
According to the prosecutor, Sup. Friday Ekundayo, the defendant was accused of committing these offenses between September 20 and 30 in the Magbon Segun area of Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
Ekundayo elaborated that Alao, in collaboration with others who remain at large, was involved in the theft of 66 bags of cement with a value of N343,200, 22 pieces of 16mm iron rods worth N301,536, and an additional 49 bags of cement valued at N254,500.
Furthermore, it was alleged that the defendant and his accomplices also stole 42 pieces of 10mm iron rods with a value of N159,301 and intentionally damaged a CCTV camera, along with its memory card, valued at N60,000, which belonged to Mr. Francis Awoyera.
The charges brought against the defendant were said to be in violation of sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olumide Fusika, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Fusika adjourned the case until Nov.11 for mention. (NAN)
