On Thursday, the Oyo State Police Command brought charges against Zacchaus Joseph, a 34-year-old individual, in the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan. He stands accused of allegedly stealing N1,375,500 from his employer.
Joseph, whose residential address was not provided, faces a theft charge.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. Olusegun Adegboye, the defendant is accused of committing the offense between August 4, 2021, and April 17, 2023.
During this period, he served as an Asset Loan Manager with Grooming Center Microfinance Bank in Oluyole and Odo-Ona, Ibadan.
The prosecutor alleged that Joseph stole the money without the consent of his employer, which is a violation of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs. S. I. Babalola, granted the defendant bail in the amount of N400,000 with two sureties providing a like sum.
The case has been adjourned until December 19 for further proceedings.
