Man allegedly beaten to death by former in-laws in Niger State

In a distressing incident, Mallam Umar Tasiu of Minna, Niger State, met a tragic end at the hands of his former in-laws. Tasiu had visited the residence of his former wife’s family to see his two children, who were living there.

A source said, “He went to see them and his former in-laws who didn’t want him to come to their house tied and flogged him until he died in their house.”

The lifeless body of the man was returned to his own home on Saturday night, and he was laid to rest on Sunday around 10 am.

The State Police spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed that the victim succumbed to injuries inflicted by assailants and was rushed to the IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna, where he passed away.

He said, “On 22nd October, 2023, at about 0800hrs a case of suspected culpable homicide was reported at the GRA Division, that on 21st October, 2023, at about 2300hrs, one Umar Tasiu of Angwan Daji was attacked by hoodlums in Minna and he was inflicted with severe injuries.”

He further mentioned that the case is currently under investigation, and efforts are being made to apprehend the individuals responsible for this tragic incident.
