Man arrested for alleged attempt to poison wife, inherit property in Jigawa

Jigawa State Police Command apprehended a 40-year-old man, Habu Ibrahim, for an alleged plot to poison his 35-year-old wife, Zakiya Uzairu, in Danadama village, Sule Tankarkar LGA. The State Police Commissioner, A T. Abdullahi, revealed the incident in a statement to DAILY POST.
According to the Commissioner, the suspect was taken into custody for purportedly contaminating a drink and meat with poison, with the motive of inheriting his wife’s wealth. Acting swiftly upon receiving the report, detectives from the Sule Tankarkar Division arrested the suspect at the scene.
CP. Abdullahi explained that the suspect underwent questioning at the Divisional Police office in Sule Tankarkar before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further inquiry.
“During the interrogation, the suspect willingly confessed to the crime, verifying the accuracy of the information provided to the police. He admitted to intending to harm his wife to gain control of her livestock, which included goats, sheep, and cows. The wife narrowly escaped after detecting the poison and foiling his plan,” stated the police.
