A young man named Akeem is held by the police in Ogun State for allegedly orchestrating the assault of his girlfriend by his associate, identified as “Suleiman Olaniyi, a member of the Eiye Confraternity.”
The Ogun State Police Command revealed that the victim reported the incident on October 8, stating that her boyfriend, Akeem, had arranged a meeting with her at his friend’s residence in the Agbero Area Ode Remo.
According to the police spokesperson in Ogun, Omolola Odutola, the girlfriend recounted that Akeem discreetly left the room, allowing “the room’s owner, Suleiman Olaniyi, a member of the Eiye Confraternity, to forcibly enter the room.”
Reportedly, this individual ordered her to lie down and attempted to assault her against her will.
As she screamed for help, neighbors rushed to the scene and forcibly opened the door to rescue her.
Odutola explained that the suspect tore the victim’s underwear in the attempt, but his actions were thwarted due to her resistance.
“Her scream attracted neighbours who forced the door open and rescued her. Her underwear was torn, but penetration failed due to her struggling and eventual rescue,” she stated.
The suspects have been apprehended, and ongoing investigations aim to apprehend other members of the cult involved.
The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, praised the victim’s courage in reporting the incident, affirming that the police would not tolerate violence against women and urged women to report such crimes to bring the perpetrators to justice.
