Lasisi Ismail, a 42-year-old man, has been apprehended for allegedly selling a plot of land he did not own in Ilori-Agbedu, Ede, Osun State.
Ismail was arrested by the Osun Amotekun Corps for selling the land for N800,000 to a woman named Mrs. Afolabi using counterfeit documents.
CSP Isaac Omoyele (rtd), Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday. He noted that the arrest occurred on Sunday after a report was filed at the Amotekun Headquarters in Osogbo. The report detailed Ismail’s fraudulent activities, and he had fled to an unknown location following the sale.
Omoyele stated, “Our operatives acted swiftly upon receiving the report and managed to apprehend the suspect at his hideout.
Ismail had presented a forged receipt, claiming he purchased the land from the Mogaji family. However, he later admitted to falsifying the receipt and documents. The Mogaji family provided the original receipt, which exposed Ismail’s deceit.”
Omoyele urged residents of Osun to exercise caution when purchasing land from individuals.
Ismail has been transferred to the police for further questioning and legal proceedings.
