Manchester City are bracing themselves for substantial offers from Saudi Arabia for Kevin De Bruyne this summer. The Belgian midfield maestro, aged 32, is a prime target for the nation as they seek to boost the profile of their top-flight league.
According to The Times, Saudi Arabia’s leading clubs — Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Ahli — are all eager to secure De Bruyne’s signature. His current contract with City expires at the end of next season.
These Pro League sides, bolstered by the nation’s Public Investment Fund, have flexed their financial muscle in recent times, making significant signings such as De Bruyne’s former teammates Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte.
Although there was interest in City’s star playmaker from the Gulf State last summer, all offers were rejected. However, with the league altering its rules to allow teams to have 10 foreign players in their squads, up from eight, Saudi clubs are poised to make another bid for De Bruyne’s services.
