Man denies wife on stage to kiss Tems at Afro Punk Festival in Brazil
A man has gone viral after reportedly denying his wife on stage just to kiss Nigerian singer Tems during her performance at the Afro Punk Festival in Brazil over the weekend.
In a viral clip from the event, Tems could be heard telling the man that she didn’t want to disrespect his wife by serenading him. However, the man quickly denied being married — even as his alleged wife stood visibly behind him.
“I know your wife is here and I need to respect her,” Tems said.
Despite her caution, the man proceeded to kiss her hand, prompting loud cheers and screams from the audience.
The incident has since stirred fresh debate online about Afrobeats artistes serenading their fans’ partners during performances.
This comes months after Omah Lay faced backlash in February 2024 for inviting a female fan — reportedly at the show with her boyfriend — on stage during his Bend You performance at the Eventim Apollo in London, a moment that went viral and allegedly led to the couple’s breakup.
