The Lagos State Police Command has detained a 33-year-old man for allegedly stealing an electronic road sign in the Oshodi area of the state.
The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) disclosed the arrest in a post shared on its X account, @rrsLagos767, on Monday night.
According to the RRS, the suspect was caught around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday while dismantling the road sign installed on the Five Star Bridge in Oshodi. The sign is meant to caution motorists to slow down.
“Vandals had stolen the battery of one of the two road signs installed at the inward Apapa end of the bridge just a week earlier,” the RRS stated.
The arrest follows increased patrol efforts by the RRS under the directive of Commander CSP Shola Jejeloye, aimed at curbing traffic robbery and safeguarding public infrastructure in the area.
Items recovered from the suspect include battery cables and pliers, according to the police.
