Mr. Philip Sunday has filed a divorce after discovering his wife Rita Musa lied that she studied political science at Benue State University, Makurdi.
Rita who barely finished her secondary education at Government Secondary School, Garki, Abuja, the Nigerian capital city lied to her husband Sunday she is a graduate of Benue State University Makurdi where she studied political science.
Rita’s lie was exposed when her husband wanted her to enroll in a master’s degree programme at the University of Jos and she was to go to Benue varsity to bring her transcript to process the admission.
Although Rita has University Degree and NYSC discharge certificates in her possession, they were forged; while she used them to deceive her husband that she attended Benue state university.
Unable to approach the university to get her transcript for master’s degree admission at the University of Jos, she opened up to her husband when she was put under pressure.
Having confessed to her husband, Rita said she was expelled in her second semester at 100 level for exam malpractice and she could not go home and face her parents.
In order not to incur the wrath of her parents, she stayed back in Makurdi for five years, forged degree and NYSC certificate and showed them to her parents who believed she actually graduated from the university.
Sunday who has since filed a divorce in a court told WAR in his Bwari Abuja residence that he was deceived, and had believed the lie that his wife is a graduate of Benue State University, not until he wanted to enroll her for a masters degrees programme at the University of Jos.
When WAR sought Rita’s explanation, she confirmed the development but said what she wants is forgiveness from her husband to accept her back as a wife.
She, however, said she deeply regrets her action.
