Man sentenced to 2 years in prison over N960,000 theft
In Ogun State, a 47-year-old man named Ugochukwu Sunday has been sentenced to a two-year prison term by the Ota Magistrates’ Court. This judgment came in the wake of his guilty plea to charges of breaking into a company and stealing items valued at N960,000, including a water dispenser.
Magistrate Mr. O. O. Okiki delivered the sentence, which did not provide an option for a fine. Ugochukwu Sunday had pleaded guilty to charges of theft, property damage, and burglary.
The court was informed by the Prosecutor, Inspector E. O. Adaraloye, that the crimes were committed on October 17 at 5:30 a.m. in Ota. It was further mentioned that the defendant maliciously damaged the ceiling while attempting to gain entry to the company.
These actions were found to be in violation of Sections 390(9), 414, and 451 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun, 2006.
