A man identified as Bem Matthew of Korinya-City, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, has been arrested by the police for stabbing his wife to death. The incident occurred around 7:03 am on Tuesday.
Neighbors swiftly responded to the scene of the tragedy and apprehended the suspect, while the lifeless body of the victim was transported to the mortuary.
The suspect was subsequently arrested by the Konshisha Divisional Police Station.
During questioning at the police station, the suspect admitted to taking his wife’s life because he believed she was no longer “submissive” to him.
An eyewitness, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed that the victim suffered multiple stab wounds on her rib, back, and thigh.
The couple had four children together.
The body of the deceased has been placed in the mortuary at Saint Joseph’s Clinic and Maternity in Korinya City.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Benue State Police Command were not successful as the spokesperson, SP Catherine Anekwe, could not be reached for comments.
