Man United Crush Everton 4-0 as Amorim gets first EPL win

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim secured his first Premier League victory in style as the Red Devils thrashed Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford.

Amorim, who joined United in November after replacing Erik ten Hag, extended his unbeaten start to three matches, building on a 1-1 draw at Ipswich in his Premier League debut and a 3-2 Europa League win over Bodo/Glimt on Thursday.

The 39-year-old Portuguese manager, brought in from Sporting Lisbon, has tempered expectations by warning fans that United will “suffer for a long period” before becoming title contenders. However, this emphatic win against a struggling Everton side provided a glimpse of promise under his leadership.

Before kickoff, discontent simmered outside Old Trafford as fans protested ticket price hikes with banners reading “Stop Exploiting Loyalty.” On the pitch, though, United gave their supporters something to cheer about.

Marcus Rashford, who opened Amorim’s reign with an early goal at Ipswich, struck again in the 34th minute. His deflected shot off Jarrad Branthwaite gave United the lead, setting the tone for a dominant performance.

Amorim’s decision to start Joshua Zirkzee over Rasmus Højlund paid dividends seven minutes later. Amad Diallo capitalized on a Branthwaite error to set up Bruno Fernandes, who fed Zirkzee for a composed finish. The Dutch striker’s goal ended a 17-game drought, dating back to August, and marked only his second strike since his summer transfer from Bologna.

United came out firing in the second half, with Rashford netting his second of the day just 20 seconds after the restart, finishing Diallo’s incisive pass for his seventh goal of the season.

Zirkzee completed the rout in the 64th minute, calmly slotting home from another Diallo assist after Everton’s defense crumbled under pressure.

The victory lifted ninth-placed United’s spirits and offered hope for a brighter future under Amorim as they look to climb the Premier League table.
