Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has undergone emergency surgery to address a back issue, as confirmed by the club in an official statement on Tuesday.
The surgery took place in Barcelona, and Guardiola is presently in the process of recuperation.
Due to this unforeseen situation, the 52-year-old will be absent from the sidelines for Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League fixtures against Sheffield United and Fulham. He is expected to make his return following the September international break.
In the words of the statement released by Manchester City, “Pep Guardiola has recently undergone a planned procedure to address a back concern. The entire Manchester City community extends well wishes for Pep’s swift recovery and eagerly anticipates his return to Manchester.”
This development follows Guardiola’s successful leadership in guiding Manchester City to a 1-0 victory against Newcastle United in the preceding weekend.
