Manir Dan’iya ready to return vehicles allocated during Tambuwal’s tenure

The immediate past Sokoto Deputy Governor, Manir Dan’iya, has expressed his willingness to surrender the luxurious vehicles assigned to him during Governor Aminu Tambuwal’s tenure. He made this statement on Saturday while appearing before the Commission of Inquiry investigating certain activities of the Tambuwal administration, accompanied by his lawyer, Nuhu Adamu.

Summoned as a witness regarding the auctioning of Prado Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to government officials by the previous administration, Dan’iya clarified that two vehicles, including an SUV, were allocated to him towards the end of their term. He affirmed that he did not misappropriate the vehicles and returned them to the Government House when the current administration requested their return.

According to Dan’iya, the vehicles were subsequently returned to him and are currently in his possession. He stated, “But I returned the two vehicles to Government House because my ADC called me, saying the present deputy governor asked me to return them. And after four days, the deputy governor called and told me that the governor directed me to return the vehicles, which I did. But the vehicles were later brought back to me. They are now under my possession. If there is any need for me to return them, I am ready to do so.”

Despite these developments, the former deputy governor dismissed the notion that the commission was established to unfairly target former government officials, asserting that the inquiry is part of the government’s routine activities.
