Many dead as Boko Haram strike in Yobe school

Suspected Boko Haram militants in the early hours of Friday, launched a deadly attack on Faudiya Islamic School in the Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State, resulting in the deaths of three students, according to the Yobe State Police Command.

The police spokesperson, Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident, which took place around 3:45 a.m. The assailants, who arrived on motorcycles and armed with dangerous weapons, initially intended to abduct students but opted instead to kill them on the spot, reportedly to avoid the “burden” of taking them into the forest.

One student, who attempted to flee the scene, sustained injuries and was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment.

“It is confirmed; the divisional police headquarters at Geidam received a report this morning from an individual about an attack on a school,” Abdulkarim stated.

“Our officers mobilized to the location and found three deceased individuals and one injured student who was taken to the hospital.”

Abdulkarim further explained that the attackers, numbering around 10 and armed with AK-47 rifles and other weapons, invaded the school and seized four students, killing three instantly while injuring the fourth.

According to one of the injured students, the attackers revealed their initial plan to abduct them but decided against it, fearing the difficulties of transporting them.

The police have launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the attack.
