Suspected armed bandits reportedly opened fire on a tanker conveying petrol to the Dansadau axis of Zamfara State.
An eyewitness told DAILY POST that the petrol tanker was attacked along old military checkpoints closer to Yargaladima town in Dansadau emirate.
It was gathered that the tanker driver and his aides escaped from the tanker and their whereabouts unknown.
DAILY POST learnt that other vehicles including a Mitsubishi Canter and other commercial vehicles were attacked at the same point where the petroleum tanker was attacked.
“Some of the commuters in the vehicles attacked sustained various degrees of injury while others trekked to Dansadau barefooted due to the tension,” an eyewitness said.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer of Zamfara Police Command, SP Shehu Muhammad, did not pick calls made to his telephone for comments.
