A newlywed Nigerian man has initiated divorce proceedings merely two days after tying the knot, citing his wife’s disrespectful behavior toward his mother as the primary reason for the dissolution of their marriage.
The unfortunate incident unfolded during the wedding reception when a physical confrontation erupted between the wife and the mother-in-law, resulting in both parties slapping each other. Despite pleas from the groom’s mother for forgiveness, the husband remains steadfast in his decision to end his relationship with his estranged wife.
The rift emerged when a couple from the groom’s side arrived at the event when the available edibles were already depleted. The only remaining delicacy was a portion of food that the bride had set aside for her parents. Sensing the urgency of the situation, the mother-in-law approached her daughter-in-law discreetly, requesting a share of the food to offer the visiting couple, as it seemed unjust for them to go without.
The bride, however, adamantly declined the request, insisting that the food was reserved for her parents. After her impassioned pleas fell on deaf ears, the mother-in-law took matters into her own hands and attempted to scoop some food onto a plate for the guests. In response, the bride abruptly reclaimed the food and emptied it back into the cooler.
Tempers flared, leading to the mother-in-law slapping her son’s wife, who, in turn, retaliated. Upon learning of the altercation, the husband chose not to create a scene at the wedding reception but, instead, opted to initiate divorce proceedings just two days following the incident.
