A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC from Isherev, Hon. Michael Adyo yesterday led elders of the party and thousands of his supporters into the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at Udei, Guma LGA.
Hon. Adyo hinged his decision to leave his former party on the deceptive style of the APC leadership in the state which he said has weakened the party and created a sense of hopelessness among its members.
Adyo described PDP as the best political party for Isherev and indeed the entire people of the state, saying that they were happy to reunite with Governor Samuel Ortom and support him to continue to serve the state.
Governor Ortom who was represented at the defection ceremony by Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals, Hon. Bernard Unenge promised equal opportunities for the defectors, saying ongoing projects in the area would be completed in recorded time.
State Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Isaac Mfo, while receiving Hon. Adyo and his supporters into the PDP said the people of Isherev had done the right thing by returning to where their own, Samuel Ortom is excelling.
He said Benue has Governor Ortom and Gabriel Suswam as lead politicians in the Tiv axis and they deserved support of their people to keep soaring in their political careers.
Special Advisers to the Governor on Education as well as Rural Development, Messrs Matthew Mnyam and Godwin Donko, Hon. Boniface Ortese, Dr. Cletus Tyokyaa among others also spoke at the ceremony.
