The leader of the bandits that kidnapped over 300 boarding students of Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Kankara, Katsina state has been identified as Awwalun Daudawa.
Awwalun Daudawa,42, is a native of Daudawa village in Faskari local government area of Katsina state but lives in Dumburun village in Zamfara state.
It was gathered that although he works with the Fulanis as a herdsman, he is not Fulani.
Daudawa, who runs a bandit gang which controls parts of Zamfara, Katsina, and Kebbi states, attacked the GSSS school flanked by two other notorious bandits -Dankarami 33, and Idi Menore.
The trio are feared bandits who have never embraced an Amnesty deal with any Government, sources told Eons Intelligence.
As the bandits negotiate ransom payments with parents of the boys, new intel says Dankarami and his cohorts are also demanding that security operatives release their gang members held in different cells across the country before the abducted school boys are released.
This is the fourth night the Kankari students would be spending in captivity. There are growing concerns that the bandits might sneak them away under the cover of darkness making rescue a more herculean task.
Sources say the boys have already been shared into groups with some hidden at Mutu village while another set are being held at Mada in Gusau, Zamfara State.
