Match report: Nigeria Flying Eagles 1-0 South Sudan

The Nigeria Flying Eagles soared to a crucial victory in the 13th African Games with a 1-0 win over South Sudan, thanks to Sadiq Isiyaka’s decisive goal.

The match kicked off with both teams showing determination and energy from the start. The Flying Eagles took control of possession early on, dictating the pace of the game with quick passing and attacking runs.

South Sudan, however, proved to be a resilient opponent, defending compactly and looking to hit Nigeria on the counter-attack.

The first half saw some promising chances for both sides, with goalkeepers on both ends making crucial saves to keep the scoreline level.

As the first half progressed, Nigeria started to dominate the midfield battle, creating more opportunities in the attacking third. However, they were unable to break the deadlock before the halftime whistle.

The Flying Eagles came out of the halftime break with renewed vigor, determined to find the breakthrough. Their efforts paid off in the 55th minute when Sadiq Isiyaka found the back of the net with a well-placed shot past the South Sudan goalkeeper.

Buoyed by the goal, Nigeria continued to press forward, looking to extend their lead. South Sudan, on the other hand, responded by pushing more players forward in search of an equalizer.

The second half saw end-to-end action, with both teams creating chances and testing each other’s defenses. The Flying Eagles showed composure and discipline, maintaining their lead with solid defending and intelligent ball control.

As the final whistle blew, it was Nigeria who emerged victorious with a hard-fought 1-0 win over South Sudan. Sadiq Isiyaka’s goal proved to be the difference-maker, securing three valuable points for the Flying Eagles in the 13th African Games.

The win puts Nigeria in a strong position in the group standings, boosting their confidence as they look ahead to the next matches in the tournament. The Flying Eagles will be aiming to build on this impressive performance as they continue their quest for glory in the 13th African Games.

Team Nigeria has moved to the fourth position on the overall medals table at the ongoing African Games in Ghana with seven gold, seven bronze and 12 bronze medals.

The country took a big leap in the standings after amassing seven gold medals on Sunday.
