Pan Idoma National Congress (PIC), a socio-cultural organization, has endorsed Dr. Mathias Oyigeya as the Governorship Candidate for the 2023 General elections in Benue State.
Oyigeya is the governorship candidate for Accord Party in the state.
The group in a statement jointly signed by Comrade Innocent Adulugba, Interim National Publicity Secretary and Hon. Daniel Olotu, Secretary, Media and Publicity Subcommittee, said the Idoma nation MUST not continue to ‘subscribe’ to playing the second fiddle in Benue State.
The group has, therefore, set up a 7-member Committee on Strategy Planning and Implementation, headed by Corn, Joseph Okpe on 29th, June 2022 to interact with available candidates in other ‘smaller’ parties and recommend a candidate to the Congress for onward presentation to the Boma nation, with a view to mobilizing support for such a candidate in the 2023 general election.
He said, “Based on wide ranging consultations and meetings with opinion leaders and elders, coupled with careful assessment of the candidates, the Committee made a recommendation to this effect, by proposing DR. MATTHIAS OYIGEYA of ACCORD (A), a political Party, to the Congress for endorsement as her preferred governorship candidate for the forthcoming 2023 general election in Benue State.
“The recommendation was hinged on his relative higher pedigree, credibility, humility, responsiveness, salability across zones, antecedence/working experiences, achievements as an individual and public manager, impacts on Benue people, political experience, and potential to create a positive change.”
