Messi, Di Maria, others arrive in USA ahead Argentina friendlies

Argentina captain, Lionel Messi; midfielder, Leandro Paredes; winger Angel Di Maria and defender, Nicolas Tagliafico have landed in the USA ahead of La Albiceleste friendly matches against Honduras and Jamaica.

According to Marca.com the four players all landed in Miami on Messi’s private jet and they were amongst the earliest to arrive, as Atlanta United midfielder Thiago Almada and Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister had already arrived.

The Albiceleste (Sky Blue) of Argentina are set to take on the Catrachos of Honduras on Saturday September 24 at the Hard Rock Stadium, USA and will play the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica on Wednesday September 28 at the Red Bull Academy training field, USA.

The friendly matches are parent of the Argentines’ preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be held in Asia between November 20 and December 18 and Argentina are in Group C alongside Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland.

Argentina have won the FIFA World Cup twice; at Argentina ’78 and Mexico ’86 editions.

Argentina have also been runners up at the FIFA World Cup three times; at Uruguay 1930, Italia ’90 and Brazil 2014 editions.
