Major League Soccer has revealed the finalists for the 2023 MLS Year-End Awards, with prominent names like Thiago Almada from Atlanta United and Lionel Messi from Inter Miami making the list.
Thiago Almada, aged 22, who secured an impressive 11 goals and a league-leading 19 assists, emerges as a finalist for the Landon Donovan MVP award, as well as a contender for the MLS Young Player of the Year title.
Lionel Messi, who made a high-profile debut in MLS this season, is recognized as a finalist for the MLS Newcomer of the Year award. In MLS terms, a “newcomer” is described as a player with prior professional experience who made their MLS debut in 2023.
The winners of these awards are slated to be announced throughout the course of the 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs.
