Methodist Bishop, Sunday Onuoha wins ADP guber primaries in Abia

Co-chair of Interfaith Peace and Dialogue Forum, and a Bishop of Methodist Church, Bishop Sunday Onuoha, has emerged the candidate of the African Democratic Party, PDP, for the 2023 governorship poll Abia State.

The election held Saturday at the Kolping Society Umuahia.

He polled 330 votes to defeat his only rival, the son of Nigeria’s former Chief of General Staff, Commodore Ebitu Ukaiwe, Mr Otisi Ebitu Ukaiwe, who garnered 160 votes.

The returning Officer of the primary election , Nkem Ukandu who declared the president of Vision Africa International winner of the contest said 20 votes were voided.

In his acceptance speech, Bishop Onuoha thanked the delegates and all relevant stakeholders for their support and patience till the end of the exercise.

While ascribing the glory to God, Bishop Onuoha said his victory marked a new beginning for Abians and the dawn of a new era.

The cleric promised not to disappoint Abians if elected Governor in 2023, assuring that the state under his watch will witness rapid transformation.
