In a devastating incident, a church roof collapse during a baptism in northeastern Mexico resulted in the loss of ten lives, including three children, and left 60 others injured.
The tragedy unfolded in Ciudad Madero, a coastal town in Tamaulipas state, during the Sunday service at Santa Cruz parish. According to a Red Cross rescuer, approximately 80 people were present when the roof gave way.
Tamaulipas Governor, Americo Villarreal, confirmed the unfortunate news, stating, “Sadly, ten individuals have lost their lives in this incident, including five women, two men, and three children.”
The community is now grappling with this heart-wrenching loss, and investigations into the collapse are underway to determine the cause of this tragic event.
