Middle Belt youth Forum endorses southern presidency, re-elect Kuanum as National President

The Forum of Presidents of Youth Organizations in the Middle Belt on Friday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately carry out a national dialogue to address the worsening security situation in the country.

The Forum also wants Buhari to address the agitations and concerns being expressed by Nigerians.

It made this assertion in a communique released to newsmen at the end of its meeting in Makurdi, Benue State.

According to the communique, the Forum insisted that this should be followed by the National Council of State meeting to come out with workable solutions to the spate of killings across the federation.

The communique reads in part, “The Forum is deeply saddened by the spate of insecurity in parts of the Middle Belt region which has left thousands of people dead and rendered many others homeless with thousands of widows and orphans.

“The Forum calls on President Muhammadu Buhari, as the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, to urgently convene a national dialogue to address the worsening security situation across the country and to also address the agitations and concerns being expressed by Nigerians.

“The Forum appreciates Nigerians in other parts of the country for sympathizing with people of the Middle Belt in their time of anguish in the face of wanton killings and other devilish acts of terrorism.”

DAILY POST recalls that one of the Middle Belt States, Plateau State, was plunged into a security crisis last year as some schools in the state were shut down.

This follows the massacre of over 30 travellers who were attacked along Rukuba Road in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau on August 13, 2022.
