The autopsy report on 4-year-old Miguel Ovoke, a pupil at Brickhall School in Abuja, who passed away on April 24, 2024, has been disclosed.

The school’s management released the report on Friday, indicating that Miguel died after choking on a piece of meat from his homemade lunch.

The report has it that the incident occurred during the school’s lunch break, sparking controversy on social media.

According to the school’s statement, Miguel began choking on meat from his lunch, which included rice, stew, plantain, and assorted meats.

“When initial emergency maneuvers to clear his throat failed, he was taken to the sick bay. Our certified nurse administered the appropriate emergency medical responses to dislodge the meat, but without success,” the school stated.

“The autopsy results confirmed that Miguel choked on a piece of meat from his homemade lunch,” the school’s statement read.

Following the autopsy report’s release, Miguel’s parents have “accepted the incident as ‘an act of God’,” according to the school.
