Mikel made an appearance as a guest for the UEFA Champions League draw held on Friday, adding a touch of football stardom to the event.
Invited by the European football powerhouse, the former Super Eagles and Chelsea midfielder took on the role of conducting the draws for both the quarter-final and semi-final stages in Nyon, Switzerland.
This draw marks the culmination of the current format of the Champions League, as a 36-team format is set to take effect next season.
When asked prior to the draw which teams he envisioned reaching the final, Mikel responded with a smile, expressing his desire for an English club to feature in the ultimate showdown.
“The final will take place in Wembley, England, so I would like to see an English club make it,” he remarked. He further expressed his hope for either Manchester City or Arsenal to secure a spot in the final.
