Military declares Halilu Buzu wanted over alleged terrorism, illegal arms supplies

The Nigerian Military has issued a wanted notice for Halilu Buzu, accusing him of participating in terrorist activities, smuggling illegal arms, engaging in illicit mining, and cattle rustling. Major General Edward Buba, Director of Operations, disclosed during a press briefing in Abuja that Buzu, hailing from Niger, is believed to be residing in a forest within Zamfara State.

Buba revealed that Buzu often flees to Niger Republic following his criminal activities in Nigeria. The military is working in conjunction with authorities in Niger to capture this alleged terrorist leader, who commands a substantial following.

In addition to this pursuit, General Buba shared that the Nigerian Army has recently rescued 253 kidnapped individuals over the past fortnight. This feat was accomplished through the collective efforts of Operations Y-Watch, Nokia-Fighting Patrols, and Operations Delta State.

Moreover, General Buba disclosed the elimination of numerous insurgents, underscoring the significance of prevailing over terrorism. He highlighted the neutralization of 227 militants and the arrest of 529 terrorists. Additionally, eleven individuals involved in oil theft were apprehended during the period in review.

“We are relentlessly targeting these terrorist groups to swiftly remove them from the battlefield. Their fate will soon be determined. Our approach will be swift and decisive, leaving no stone unturned to eradicate them,” remarked Buba.
