Security forces in Benue State have intensified joint operations under Operation Restore Peace, concentrating on the volatile Sankara axis.

Reliable sources said that on September 26, aerial surveillance detected heavily armed bandits near the Takum boundary between Benue and Taraba states, prompting plans for a potential Nigerian Air Force strike in the area.

In a related development, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) chaired a security stakeholders’ meeting at the Katsina-Ala Area Command, where the Benue government pledged financial support for the burial of personnel killed during a September 19 operation.

The state is providing N500,000 each for burial expenses, while chairmen of the three Sankara local governments also vowed to assist with intelligence and other resources to boost the ongoing mission.

Security agencies reiterated their resolve to restore peace and protect communities across the state.
